The Pelvic Floor - A Workshop for Women
Saturday, September 23rd from 11am-4pm with Carmen Hutt - $90 plus HST
Pelvic Floor Yoga can assist to restore the vitality of a very important region in our bodies. By creating a better sense of awareness through the use of breath, subtle movements, and stretching we can work to to soften the area, while strengthening the pelvic floor and the surrounding muscles that assist to stabilize the pelvis.
During the workshop we will review basic anatomy of the pelvis and its three layers of pelvic floor musculature. We will discuss how the breath and ‘core’ contribute to the health of the pelvic floor, and how we can work with yoga asana to soften, stretch, and mindfully strengthen the area.
This workshop is designed for any woman looking to gain more insight, or wishing to create a more mindful relationship with their pelvis. Whether you have experienced child birth, pregnancy, menopause, surgical intervention, pelvic pain, or peeing when ‘sneezing’, this workshop will give you more knowledge in a supportive environment.
Carmen has been practicing yoga on a daily basis for the past 15 years. She took her initial ashtanga yoga teacher training (200 hr) with Brian Cooper in Edinburgh, Scotland, then spent long periods of time in India with Lino Miele ( Italy) and Rolf and Marcy Naukojat ( Goa). She has also completed week long intensives with David Williams, David Swenson, Dharma Mittra, Ana Forrest, and Shiva Rea.
Carmen completed Pelvic Floor yoga teacher training and certification with Leslie Howard ( California), and is currently the only certified teacher in Canada. Carmen is also avidly inspired by the works of Katy Bowman ( Nutritious Movement), Jules Mitchell (Biomechanist), Julie Wiebe ( Pelvic floor physio), and all things 'movement' related. Carmen is also a licensed Occupational Therapist- although currently a Stay at Home Momma of two little monkeys who keep her present in every moment of the day . She presently teaches out of her home studio in St Margarets Bay, Carmen Hutt Yoga.
